Another Decent Day
Let's just say it got better towards the end.
Schooling starts first, after treadmill and breakfast. But it's getting to the point where I am quite antsy sitting with the two youngest boys. Whether it's going through the flashcards or listening to someone read, or explaining something again that I thought they knew....I find it harder and harder to remain patient. Instead, I have this overwhelming urge--so far stifled--to say, "Come on, COME ON! YOU KNOW THIS!" or rather, "You HAVE to know this or I'm going to be held responsible!"
It all seemed a lot easier 10 years ago. But at least there aren't toddlers running around or babies to be nursed, so I do have that going for me.
The morning time of torture ended, Ethan and I went out to clear the driveway. Judging by the snow and the surrounding town totals, we received 3 inches. Just enough to need shoveling, particularly with a bit of wind.
Upon coming indoors, I had Ethan and Nolan study their Latin numbers and take a quiz...both got all right! (if only I could make up the ITBS)
After a stunning lunch of leftovers--and doing the dishes--I headed back outside with pick ax and snow shovel. It was time for some heavy duty travail on the driveway ice and frozen slush.
Ma started widening the drive yesterday, and at the conclusion of this afternoon's 90-minute workout, most of bad stuff is done.
I'm feeling pretty done, too. Oh, did that hot bath feel good! But even better was donning nice dry clothes and crawling under the covers for 35 minutes. A little short, afternoon nap-wise, but certainly better than nothing.
Ibuprofen and acetaminophen, take me away!
Finally became completely warm while wrapped up in a quilt, watching the news, and then...
...then it was off for another nostalgic trip down Susy Homemaker lane, to make cookies. Yes, Ma made--and is STILL making--cookies!
Carolyn came into the kitchen and declared, "I don't think I've ever seen you make cookies!"
It's true. I tend toward the more time efficient methods of brownies, cookie bars, and pulling ice cream out of the freezer.
Discovered a distinct disadvantage with the whole cookie concept, however. The batter is available a WHOLE LOT LONGER for snitching purposes.
But I figure I've still got another 45 minutes of killer deicing activity to work with.
Now, where are those drugs...

But what kind of cookies? Mommy, how can you leave us hanging like this?
(My bets are on chocolate chip cookies.)
cookie dough snitching gets hands thwacked with a spoon. Just ask anybody who tries to wander in when i'm making cookies :-) although, making cookies while being pregnant is depressing since I can't eat the raw dough (or at least, I'm not supposed to.) At least there's the nice little coffee shop that makes "safe" cookie dough down the road...
Sharon, it was the double chocolate oatmeal cookies on the back of the oatmeal canister. You made them first, I believe.
Anna, I didn't know there was such a thing as "safe" cookie dough. Loren's not ever supposed to eat that kind of ice cream, though he wouldn't like it anyway.
Also Anna, the cookie dough snitching referred to was my temptation. At least with bars you only have the batter available for a short time. One quick swipe and you're done.
But the cookie batter sits there forever, just daring you to take it.
