It's Here...

...or "why our lives will revolve around the Olympics for the next two weeks."

• Eating supper in the living room so we can watch events (kids might be less cognizant of what their eating, so I could potentially throw some beets or liver in there with no one the wiser...)
  
  
• Reading the nightly book at a time other than night. Fortunately we've got a great adventure in Holes, so they shouldn't mind hearing it in the afternoon.
  
  
• Taking almost an hour for kids to get the supper dishes washed, said work to be completed in commercial-sized increments....un-less there's a funny commercial...in which case it could take TWO hours
  
  
• Sudden frenzied activities out-of-doors that have an amazing likeness to Olympic events (...*make note to watch for attempts to reenact ski jumping off the roof, or the use of kitchen knives to improvise ice skates*...)
  

I think the younger kids have forgiven me for not letting them stay up past 9:30 to watch the remainder of the opening ceremony. I didn't either. Friday is movie night and I introduced Carolyn to Back to the Future (I).

A person can only take so much change in their routine.

Good thing the Olympics aren't broadcast during the morning, or we would seriously have to consider jamming school into the commercial breaks.
