My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of Heaven and earth,

He who watches over you will not slumber.

Christmas Program and more....

Sunday night was the Christmas program at Allison Bible Church. Here's the choir...
I told the kids, "Now watch...I'll bet they're gonna move both sides of the "stable" in towards the middle at the end of the program, making a cross...."

OOPS! Ma was wrong again. Probably time for my eye doctor appointment...

We kept our kids out this year due to a nasty virus we picked up around Christmas-time last year. Decided I wasn't going to take the chance this time around.

Debated whether to go to the program but decided to based on the fact that:
-even I get tired of being a Scrooge
-Loren wasn't home with Jason yet, anyway
-it seemed a reasonable compromise to take the kids, sit in the back and beat it home, skipping the soup supper and seeing if the guys were back (they weren't)

It was a nice program, with half the congregation up front :-)

Janet Henniger was in charge of the program. Here she is getting a special word of thanks from Pastor John, along with the presentation of a gift.
The program included two short plays, one of which had been written by Laura Severs.

Afterwards we scurried home...Trevor was SO excited to be seeing his big brother soon. (as we all were)

Even so we waited for a bit until Loren retrieved Jason from Cedar Rapids. Jason stayed overnight at Ardith's house after a tense drive on iffy roads back from Chicago. I'm told the low beams on Ardith's car conked out and she finished up with her brights. Makes me feel guilty that she drove all the way over there and back.

Anyway, all is well at our house. Trevor enjoys a little bit o' heaven as he and Jason look at the fake Christmas tree.

The next day...

A tense game of checkers between a five-year old and a college student.
Ooooo, it looks as though Trevor has decided on a mode of attack!

"Smug" is too tame a word for the wee bonny lad. He thinks he's made a stunning move...
...not realizing his older brother is playing him like a fish on a line.

Ah, good times :-)

I think I remember your Dad and our uncles playing at Christmas. Did Jason learn to "play the fish" from his grandfather?

It would seem a reasonable assumption :-)
