The Fat Report: Day 2
It has been a reasonable day. Despite having no trail mix for over 24 hours, it would seem my sanity is intact. I have not been led to believe otherwise.
I did not weigh myself today for WE ALL KNOW what happens when one goes on a diet. One gains weight. At least in the short run. So, until I sense the time is right, or have a temporary lapse in lucidity, the scale and I are keeping our distance.
Today's Task of Denial: as well as foregoing trail mix, I skipped my daily afternoon snooze/reading session and tackled a job I have long considered potentially harmful, the bedroom. It was difficult to decide where to start, considering the imminent potential for collapse of several piles. One thing led to another though, and totally against my conscious will, I found myself drawn ever so slowly over to the closet. The closet, which I must confess was NOT cleaned before going to Mayo last November.
I discovered several interesting things, first, and not the least of which was the actual flooring. It was soon apparent, however, that while I was away, belts and hangers had been procreating in wild abandon. (one always hears of these scenarios in other homes, I.......I guess.......I just thought it would never happen to me......) Being left alone in that dark and quiet environment, things had really gotten out of hand, accessorily speaking. But I gradually pruned back the extra growth.
The second discovery was that, *gasp* my collection of clothes actually exceeded my capacity to store them. This was soon remedied, however, by my third discovery, that it would be a great boon to humanity if I gave away some of Loren's clothes. Just the ones I don't like. Few things bring such joy to the heart of a wife as the unloading of shirts that are 20 years old. I also parted with some of my garments. In fact, there are now 4 boxes waiting for Goodwill.
My afternoon snack consisted of cranberry almond cereal, which, surprisingly enough, compared quite favorably to the twigs of yesterday. When Cranberry cereal can be likened to an ice cream treat, you know you are doing something right.
Before newstime, yesterday, I completed a 4 mile walk around the "block." It was a little chilly, but there was only about one mile, there, when I couldn't feel my forehead. The good thing is: afternoons are optimal for pulling in my favorite big band/swing station on the transistor radio. The bad thing is: all that exercise really makes a person hungry...... Tweet
