Almost Finalized
Well, the eldest child has been to Cedar Rapids and back, today, visiting her future place of incarceration, uh, I mean employment.
Ardith was given the tour by her boss-to-be, fingerprinted, taken out to lunch, and most importantly, shown the cubicle where she will be working.
This being a government job, entailing security clearances and such, I cannot go into great detail. I am not even completely clear on what she will be doing, but I will give you a few tidbits and she can clear up any misinformation. (is that clear?)
Basically, she will be working in the area of satellite communications. Now, as I understand it, this involves teaching the satellites how to operate their cell phones so they can play amusing games while waiting for information to be transmitted. Plus, the satellites can ask their operators to pick up a gallon of milk on their way home from work.
Also, there is the added advantage of being able to scope out the least busiest restaurant over the noon hour. I am hoping that some day, this technology can be adapted to find the optimal traffic flow for getting my kids to bed at a decent time. *makes note to have Ardith work on this*
The cubicle, too, presents all sorts of possibilities. I am encouraging my firstborn to go all out as far as decorating goes. No more of this Goodwill, business. We are talking Salvation Army, here, at least. Maybe even Wal-mart. With a decent *choke* salary it is time to start livin' the good life. (Just tell me the company colors, dear, and I'll start right on that knitted coaster and matching key-ring)
Isn't it lucky I'll be conveniently close by to advise her on these matters? It is no trouble. Really. That's what mothers are for. Tweet
